Ever since you were a child in the meager village of Ironforge, you wanted to become a great Wizard and learn the great mysteries of the universe, such as what happens to that missing sock. The answer turned out to not be very interesting, but by that time you were a Wizard anyway.

As luck would have it, as you were passing through the land of Shuntington, you stopped at the inn in the quiet hamlet of Phlegm, and heard the local barber talking about the ancient tower that the town had (perhaps ill-advisedly) been built next to, and the fantastic Amethyst Idol of Diabolicus that was purported to be hidden there. Without bothering to ask why nobody had managed to recover it already, you set out on your very first quest.

You were doing really well but you soon were confounded by a fiendish mine crafting puzzle, and by the time you figured out to solve it, you were crestfallen as an underfed budgie.

Fortunately, "giving up" isn't in your dictionary (probably because it's two words), so you persevered. You fought your way through countless lizardmen and gangsters -- even a owlbear! But eventually you found the lair of the sinister Shadow Giant Fangstrong, and were able to defeat him by knocking him into a spiked pit with a lucky critical hit. Bruised but successful, you made it back to the nearby city of Hamonrye and claimed your reward.
